Summer Bucket List
I remember the first summer my daughters and I sat down and listed out all the things we wanted to do. It was FUN to dream of what summer could look like and then make our final selections. I took the compiled list of ideas, created a frame-worthy checklist to hang prominently on the fridge and we worked through the summer to check all the boxes. Not only did it provide ideas on the days we were out of things to do, but it was a great challenge to make the endless days of summer maintain a little bit of structure.
Now that they’re older (& still creating their own summer bucket lists and bingo boards), I have noticed that I have let the tradition for myself slide. The last thing I’m looking for in this season, however, is another list of things to do. With my middle daughter’s senior year wrapping up, graduation, summer travel plans, my youngest daughter’s activities, household requirements, and life in general I have been feeling more like the ping pong ball in a battle for the win. Unfortunately, I do not feel like I’m winning. I’m just dizzy and exhausted.
But then the 60 day challenge floated into my brain. I am desiring intentionality of my time and have come to recognize a LOT can be accomplished in 60 days! I have wanted to increase my income base and am feeling the pull to use the certification of my Wellness Coach training. Paired with the realization that I am hiding behind many self-imposed stories, summer felt like the perfect time to take action and prove myself wrong.
The stories I want to overwrite:
I don’t know how to get clients
I don’t know enough yet to guide someone else's wellness journey
I dislike posting on social media
I don’t have time
Who am I … (fill in the blank - this one is broad!)
I hate posting on social media - yes, this is intentionally on my stories twice!
I am showing up imperfectly, without a script, without expectations into what the end result will be. I am holding myself accountable to posting coaching tips to reaching your 60 day challenge every other day with only a very simple outline of topics. I am showing up biweekly with a blog post. I am addressing my fears and doubts with action. Imperfectly perfect!
Here is what I know. 60 days is a lot of time. Small hinges swing large doors. I do know what I’m talking about and I know enough to put myself out there. Great things come from small action steps.
When you do SMALL things with great love, BIG gains reveal themselves.
If one of my video posts creates an aha or encouragement for a single person who needs to know they are fully capable of chasing their dreams - then I will have succeeded. Even if this one person is me.
My hope is these silly little videos reach a lot of people and catch on. I hope my words and actions create a greater impact than I’ll ever know. I do not care to be the next Mel Robbins, but I do want to leave this world creating a positive impact on those who were in my presence. It’s my belief that we are all here with a specific purpose and our goal is to spend our life using the gifts we were given to make the world a better place. Sometimes we spend our lifetime trying to figure out what that purpose is, but what if chasing our desires, using our gifts, and leaning in when we have a crazy little idea is the path to fulfilling that purpose?
60 days. If I live to be 90 years old, I will have been gifted with 32,850 days to show up. I want to reach that final day and say, “Most days I showed up and lived fully”.
So, let me ask you: do you have 60 days of your life to devote to taking small action steps in reaching your next goal? Join me over on Instagram or Facebook and let’s make this summer one you can look back on and feel pride in showing up for yourself! Let’s show up together and see what you discover!
