2025 Year In Review Cycle Sync Style
I am trying something new this year, because honestly, I love the challenge that comes from something new - the way it challenges my brain. Mostly though, for the simple reason that it felt fun and don’t we all need a bit more fun?! I love a good cup of tea, my camera roll, journal, and planner in hand while I spend a couple hours reviewing all that this year has brought me. The weekend after Thanksgiving is the perfect time for me to take stock and recognize all I’m grateful for, look back at what I wanted this year to bring versus what it actually brought, while also taking inventory of the goals I set, what I achieved, the things still in process and asking with honest transparency if they are still calling me or not.
I’m a nerd this way, what can I say?! I’m OK with that. 🤓
For this challenge I’m following the moon cycle, which is one method for cycle syncing if your cycles are irregular (for whatever reason) or if you’re talking to a large audience with the potential for varied cycles. Considering I fall under both of those categories - thank you perimenopause! - I am choosing to follow the moon for this review. And guess what? It lines up as perfectly as it possibly could, which gives me an extra spark of energy! ✨
If you’re at all interested or curious on what this might look like, I want to invite you to join me this month. I’ll lay it all out for you here so you have something to follow along with. Also, check in with me on Instagram and Facebook weekly for the update of that week’s direction as well as signing up for my newsletters so you can follow along and get notices of my next fun and exciting challenge.
Let me begin with the very basics. There are 4 parts to your cycle - just like there are 4 seasons in our year and 4 phases of the moon. Ironic isn’t it?! Not really, but that’s another conversation for another day. ;)
We’ll begin with day 1 of your cycle. The Menstrual phase happens whether or not you have a period anymore and follows the new moon however if you are still bleeding this would begin on your first day. Think of it as Winter - hibernation, snuggling deep into a blanket with a warm cuppa tea and a book. It has a real internal and reflective quality to it and typically lasts 5-7 days (I’m using 5 days in this process).
The Follicular phase is your next 7 days and feels more like Spring. With it comes new growth and opportunities, planning, and increasing energy. It’s that feeling you get when that first day of warm sunshine comes out after a brutal winter and you spot the first signs of crocus flowers. It makes you want to skip and you feel like everything in the world is just perfect. Like the moon slowly growing and becoming more visible, so are you.
The Ovulation phase comes after Spring and you guessed it - it’s time to play just like Summer! This is your full moon. It’s a great time to shine, show up fully, be adventurous, embrace your energy & use your voice. While it’s the shortest phase - 3 to 4 days - you can ride this energy a bit longer as you transition into the Luteal season.
Wrapping up the phases, is your Luteal phase. It is a full 14 days and as mentioned above your energy from Ovulation will be felt in the beginning of this phase. Think Fall - the Moon is slowly decreasing as we head towards the New Moon again. Just like the squirrels, we are meant to take stock and slowly prepare for winter. This is a great time to use your attention to detail and wrap up those tasks you put off the rest of the month, while also asking what went well in the past month.
Make sense? It takes time so if not, don’t worry. You’ll get there! Remember - this is fun, a new way to ease into 2026. Confusion is totally acceptable.
If we take this concept and apply it to wrapping up 2025 and moving gracefully into 2026 it would look something like this for the final 6 weeks of the year:
November 19 - 23: Menstraul/Winter energy (new moon 11/19/25)
💖What went well in 2025? What were your favorite memories? What was challenging? What are you proud of? Do the remaining goals still feel aligned with you 11 months later?
November 24 - 30: Follicular/Spring energy.
🧹What goals do did you set earlier this year that are still calling you?
🌱What could it look like to take action on those goals in the next 30 days?
December 1 - 5: Ovulation/Summer energy (full moon 12/4/2025)
☀️Be bold, take action, SHINE bright
🛝Play with the goals you want to meet
🎶Put voice to what needs or wants to be said with confidence & love
December 6 - 16: Luteal/Fall energy
🏃🏽♀️Continue taking action on the last few goals of 2025
🎁Wrap it all up - complete the loose ends of 2025 beautifully
🐿️Prepare for your final weeks of the year (& let’s be honest - the holidays)
December 17 - 21: Menstraul/Winter energy (new moon 12/19/2025)
🥰 Final reflections of the year: is there anything that feels incomplete? How would you describe the woman you want to be 12 months from now (December 2026)?
☕️ If you could begin 2026 perfectly, what might that look, feel, and sound like?
December 22 - 28: Follicular/Spring energy
🌿Plan and set goals, dreams, and desires for the upcoming year
🎅Who are we kidding … this is Christmas week! Use your energy to clean your house, wrap the gifts, and set your intentions for how you want the holidays to feel. And by all means crank the holiday tunes or put a movie on in the background - make it fun and playful. The holidays are not just for kids!!
So, there you go! a 6-week cheat sheet for you (even though we’re already past the first 2 it’s definitely not too late). No matter what, I hope you have fun with this and follow your own energy and rhythms. I would love to hear how it goes for you and if you found this helpful or interesting.
